The "Voice" Will Turn Two

‘The Voice‘ is coming back for season two, NBC revealed when it announced its 2011-2012 primetime lineup. The hit singing competition will return as a mid-season program on Monday nights.

With the current first season scoring big ratings, ‘The Voice’ will return for another season Mondays at 8-10PM ET for the second half of NBC’s 2011-12 schedule.

It’s unclear whether Blake Shelton and the rest of the celebrity coaches — Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, and Adam Levine — will return, too.

“With a powerful new asset like ‘The Voice’ already in hand, we go into the 2011-12 season with cautious but incredible optimism,” says NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt.

‘The Voice’ will be followed on Mondays by the new musical drama ‘Smash,’ which airs from 10-11PM ET.

The show stars ‘American Idol‘ runner-up Katherine McPhee as a young theater performer who is competing for the lead role on a Broadway show with stage veteran Ivy Bell (played by Megan Hilty).

In the fall, the 8-10PM ET time slot on Mondays will be occupied by NBC’s other singing competition, ‘The Sing-Off,’ which features a cappella groups.
