Blake Shelton Joins NBC’s ‘The Voice’

Blake Shelton has joined NBC’s new singing competition series, The Voice. Shelton has been cast as a judge/coach on the show, which premieres April 26.

Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, and Maroon 5's Adam Levine will also be on the panel. “I’m not sure The Voice knows what they signed on for by bringing me on the show,” Shelton joked. “I know this for sure – Christina, Cee Lo, Adam and I are going to have a blast and I am extremely excited to be part of a show that recognizes true vocal talent.”

Hosted by Carson Daly, the show’s innovative format features three stages of competition. The first begins with the blind audition, then the competition enters into a battle phase, and finally, the live performance shows.

Each of the 4 coaches will have their best contestant left standing to compete in the finale. From these four, one will be named “The Voice” — and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract and $100,000.
