Kenny Chesney’s Number Ones Puts Him In The Record Books

Kenny Chesney is in the record books for having a Billboard No. 1 single every year for the past 11 years. Kenny notched a Billboard No. 1 each year from 2001 through 2011.   


According to Billboard, in the chart’s 66-year history, just six artists have strung together longer runs of annual No. 1s than Chesney:
19 years, George Strait, 1982-2000
16 years, Ronnie Milsap, 1974-89
14 years, Alabama, 1980-93
12 years, Loretta Lynn, 1967-78
11 years, Tim McGraw, 1994-2004
11 years, Dolly Parton, 1977-87
11 years, Kenny Chesney, 2001-11 (Latest – Somewhere With You in 2011)
10 years, Conway Twitty, 1968-77
10 years, Merle Haggard, 1967-76


Kenny’s latest album, Hemingway’s Whiskey, reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart, making it the 6th time he’s accomplished that feat.  The only country artist who has topped the Billboard 200 chart more than Chesney is Garth Brooks, who has done it 8 times.
