Garth Brooks to Be Inducted Into Songwriters Hall of Fame

The Songwriters Hall of Fame 2011 inductees will include Garth Brooks as one of the names among the many talented lyricists.

Over his nearly 30-year career as a singer-songwriter, Brooks has established himself as one of the most influential country artists of all time. Although Brooks is known for his performer persona, Brooks has also penned several of his greatest hits, including ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes,’ ‘The Thunder Rolls,’ ‘Unanswered Prayers,’ and ‘We Shall Be Free.’

On top of his songwriting achievements, Brooks has also been noted as the top selling solo artist in U.S. history by the RIAA, having sold more than 128 million albums. He is also the only solo musician in RIAA history to have six of his albums reach beyond to 10 million mark in sales.

The ceremony is set to take place on June 16, 2011 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Other country music-related inductees include John Bettis and Allen Toussaint. Bettis wrote George Strait’s No. 1 hit ‘Heartland” and Barbara Mandrell‘s ‘One of a Kind Pair of Fools,’ while Toussaint wrote Glen Campbell’s smash hit ‘Southern Nights.’
