Toby Keith On School Bullying

Toby Keith shared his views on school bullying with CNN.  "Yeah, bullying is bad, but in my generation, my father wouldn't allow that to happen," he says. "My father would say, 'Do whatever you have to do to shut it down, you know. Fight.' We would fight the bully. If you let the guy bully you every day at school, it's going to continue to go. So it's better to take that ass-whooping the first day and get it over with, and then they usually leave you alone," Toby contends.

Toby does acknowledge that fighting shouldn't be the first route taken to end a dispute. "Take every avenue you can to disarm the situation friendly and peacefully," he suggests, "but if it continues to go on, and you've been to the police
department, and you've been to the school board, and you've done everything you can to stop it, give your kid a baseball bat. Tell him to go defend himself. If you stand up to a bully, 90 percent of the time it takes that away."
