Kara DioGuardi, a celebrated songwriter and record label exec recently signed on to be the head judge of 'Going Platinum,' a new songwriting competition that will air on the Bravo network next year.
Kara feels she's a perfect fit for the show. "Hit songs are the backbone of the music industry, and as a publisher, nothing excites me more than finding new songwriting talent," Kara told People. "I am happy to be a part of a show that helps up and coming songwriters pursue their dreams, while giving the public a look into the creative process."
Joining Kara at the judges' table, as well as acting as a mentor, will be multi-platinum-selling songbird, Jewel.
The 12 contestants will have to prove their songwriting chops by penning songs in several different genres, including ballads and dance-tracks, as they battle it out for the grand prize of $100,000.
Kara has had a multitude of success in both the pop and country worlds. Her past credits include 'Mama's Song' and 'Undo It' by Carrie Underwood, 'Lost' by Faith Hill and 'Once' by Rascal Flatts.
'Going Platinum,' which is currently in production, is expected to premiere in 2011.
