Zac Brown Builds Camp Southern Ground for Special Needs Children

Zac Brown is building a camp for special needs kids on 360 pine-filled acres near his home in Georgia. The camp will be free to attendees, and it is designed to build children’s music and life skills, plus promote health awareness.

Brown spent many summers as a camp counselor, so building his own facility is a dream come true for him.

Having four healthy children himself, Brown realizes the blessing in helping kids who are not so fortunate. He says, “To me, there is nothing more worthwhile than helping kids. Camp Southern Ground will work with special needs children while providing them with lodging and facilities to most effectively contribute to their rehabilitation.”

Camp Southern Ground will be a state-of-the-art facility that support children that have Tourette’s syndrome, dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, Asperger syndrome and autism.

Zac Brown Band will also support this new endeavor, and $1 from every ticket sold for their concert dates in 2011 will go to benefit Camp Southern Ground.
