Austin City Limits Smoke Free Weekend

The City of Austin asked people at the Austin City Limits Festival not to smoke in hopes of preventing fires. Seventy-five thousand people packed into Zilker Park, and with the wildfires blowing across Texas the precaution was generally observed.

Austin City Limits festival organizers have an email and text messaging alert system for as a way to feed emergency information to those who bought tickets to the concert. Event promoter C3 Presents began warning people of the smoking ban using this system.

There were off-duty police officers for security and emergency management. In addition, emergency exits were marked within the park. Just like any 21st century meeting, there was an Austin City Limits app for iPhones and Android.
