Hey, World. Here Comes Dolly

The iconic singer, songwriter, musician, actress, philanthropist, and 2014 Grammy nominee is set to kick off her “Blue Smoke World Tour” this Friday, January 24, in Rancho Mirage, California.  In addition this past Friday, Parton announced shows in Tamworth and Cairns being added to the Australian leg of the tour, both shows are already sold out!

“It’s always great to perform at home in the good ol’ USA.  We're kicking off our Blue Smoke World Tour right here at home.  I love traveling all over the world; but it’s true, there’s nothing like home,” says Dolly Parton.
After a widely successful tour of Australia in 2011, Parton will head down under for her first visit to New Zealand in over three decades as well as a return visit to Australia.  “Australia, here I come again.  We have a lot of new and exciting things for the show and can't wait to share it with you.  I love my fans in that part of the world.  You've been so very good to me for so many years, I’m really, really excited to be coming back to New Zealand again after 30 years or so.  And I know that we're gonna have a wonderful time.  It’s a long way from home in your part of the world, but I always feel like I'm right at home.  So Australia, New Zealand, I'm coming home.  Wait up!”

After returning home from Australia and New Zealand, there is no slowing down for Dolly.  In May, Dolly will, once again, hit a few more markets in America before heading across the pond for June concerts in Europe as well as a return to the O2 Arena in London, the venue where Dolly recorded and filmed An Evening With…Dolly (Dolly Records), her widely praised DVD/CD set that was certified GOLD by the RIAA.

“Every time I come to Europe I’m just as excited as I was my very first time, which was many, many years ago.  I love that part of the world and I especially love the fans,” adds Parton.  “We always have such a good time and I've put together a lot of things for this show that I think the fans will love.  We had not planned to come back so soon, but we got so much fan mail and such a great reaction that I thought ‘Well, why not.  If they're having a good time and we always do, let’s just do it’.”

Dolly Parton’s Getting Married Again

Taste of Country's Christina Vinson reportsDolly has of course been married to her husband Carl Dean for almost 50 years, and to celebrate five decades of matrimony, they’re renewing their vows!

The ‘Jolene’ hitmaker is excited about the prospect of another wedding in 2016, and shares with Closer, “We’ve talked about that — we might do it all over again! Another big wedding.”

Some couples enjoy renewing their vows in exotic places, jetting around the world to find the perfect place to say ‘I do’ again, but Parton and Dean are perfectly happy to do the deed “where we have family and friends.”

The big day will “probably be at our big old plantation home. We love it there,” Parton furthers, and that works out perfectly well, as her hubby hates flying. So, they certainly won’t be leaving on a jet plane. “Carl doesn’t like to fly,” she reveals. “Once many, many years ago, he went with me to Hawaii, and he enjoyed that, but he never wanted to go anywhere else.”

“You Can’t Make Old Friends”

The world premiere of the video for the new duet by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton – will be broadcast on ABC’s Good Morning America this coming Monday, September 16th.

Rogers and Parton shot the clip together earlier this year in Nashville, Tennessee.  The song is the title track from Rogers’ highly anticipated new album, You Can’t Make Old Friends, which will be released by Warner Bros. Records on October 8th..

It was thirty years ago almost to the day when Rogers and Parton released the multiple-chart No. 1 hit, “Islands In The Stream,” which went on to become an instant classic and one of the most successful singles by a duo in history.

"I can't think of a more perfect song for the two of us to sing together," Rogers said of "You Can't Make Old Friends."  “Out of everyone in the business, Dolly is my best friend, so naturally it has special meaning for the both of us. It was so good to be back in the studio with her.  I’m thrilled to have our relationship documented this way.”

Parton added, “There is just something about our chemistry with each other – our friendship – that people really sense what we really feel.  To do a song that fits so many people, and certainly us, was an honor.  It’s been a wonderful journey, and I’m so glad I’ve been able to walk this road with Kenny.”

The duet “You Can’t Make Old Friends” is available now on iTunes and is being offered as a instant download for those who pre-order the You Can’t Make Old Friends album on iTunes here: http://smarturl.it/kennyrogers.  The video will be available for purchase next week at digital retailers.

You Can’t Make Old Friends is Rogers’ first country album since the release of Water & Bridges in 2006.  The album showcases a certain familiarity that can be expected from Rogers, along with fresh twists of creativity that see the versatile Grammy Award-winner stretching his artistry into new musical territory.  In addition to the great story songs and love songs Rogers has become well known for, flavors of rock and roll, soul, gospel, southern rock, zydeco, and sounds of the Southwest are embraced in this bold recording.

Rogers will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this fall.

Dolly Parton; Queen Latifah Trailer is Out

The trailer for Dolly Parton's new movie with Queen Latifah, called Joyful Noise, has been posted online.

The plot features the two of them fighting over the choir director at a Southern church, so it's not surprising that there are a lot of gospel numbers in the show.

The trailer shows them modernizing their sound with Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" and Dolly singing a solo on a cover of the Chris Brown's hit "Forever."

Joyful Noise hits theaters January 13.

Dolly Parton's Hair-y Stories

Dolly Parton is never without one of her many trademark hairpieces; in fact, no one outside of her closest inner circle knows what her real locks look like! But there are some wig stories Dolly is willing to share.

"One time I was riding a bicycle with my best friend, Judy Ogle, and we went to this little grove with an overhanging tree," Dolly recalls to Q magazine. "As I cycled under it, I saw Judy crying with laughter. I turned around, and there was my hair hanging from a branch.

"There are always nightmares when you wear a wig and I usually do, even if it's just a little short one," continues Dolly. "Another time, I was doing a show and my fiddle player got his bow stuck in my hair. Every time he played a note, I could feel my hairpiece lifting up."

Dolly hits the road July 17 on an international trek in support of her 'Better Day' album, which will be released June 28.

"I wanted to do an album that would be very uplifting and positive, as well as inspirational," Dolly says of the new project on her own Dolly Records. "Times are hard all over. I think people need to feel better and I thought 'Better Day' was a perfect title because it says 'hope.'"
