It
doesn't matter how long you've been in this business, it's always
personally satisfying to watch an artist gain mass acceptance before
your eyes and ears. And that's exactly what happened Tuesday evening
inside L.A.'s cavernous Staples Center, as Tegan and Sara received what amounts to the musical Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval from none other than Taylor Swift.
Midway through her ambitious show, Swift officially applied her
invaluable imprimatur upon the talented Canadian sisters by bringing
them out into a wildly cheering arena to perform their rapidly rising
hit, "Closer." Swift joined them in an enthusiastic performance, which
was conveniently captured on video
and has gone viral. Take a few moments and enjoy the performance.
The
appearance was a great way for Warner Bros. to brand Tegan and Sara with
a young, extremely active, very musically aware mainstream audience,
and the results are already paying off -- social media immediately blew
up, and "Closer" is currently No. 35* on the Mediabase Top 40 chart and
climbing.
