Shania Sells Out Two In Canada

International superstar, Shania Twain, returned to Canada this past Wednesday and Thursday night (July 9-10) and thrilled fans with two incredible sold-out shows during the Calgary Stampede.  It has been ten years since the star has performed live in Canada.  Each night 14,000 people packed the Scotiabank Saddledome to see Twain’s high-energy performance, which showcased many of the icon’s greatest hits.

“In our ten years of Saddledome concerts during the Calgary Stampede, Shania is the first artist to sell-out two back-to-back shows,” says Adam Oppenheim, Managing director, Stampede Concerts Inc.  “The Calgary Stampede and Stampede Concerts Inc. are ecstatic about Shania’s two performances, and the fan’s enthusiasm speaks for itself.”

“We are honored to have such a tremendous icon mark ten years of the Calgary Stampede Saddledome Concert Series,” Adds Amy Bryan, Director of Talent Buying, REACH LLC.

Following her Calgary performances, Twain will return to the Las Vegas stage for her critically-acclaimed residency show, SHANIA:  STILL THE ONE at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Saturday, July 12, 2014.  For a full list of her July Vegas dates click HERE.

Shania Is Still The One

The song goes, Hey, did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world? And Country Weekly readers have replied, “Yes, we have!”

The brunette beauty remains as breathtaking as she was when she hit the scene more than 20 years ago. But the Top 10 list is diverse in terms of the artists’ physical attributes, ages and musical styles.Long-legged fellow Canadian, and country traditionalist, Terri Clark made the cut, and so did Terri’s hero, classic beauty Reba McEntire. The pretty, young Lauren Alaina and Katie Armiger also sizzle in the feature.

Shania Twain Joins Canada's Country Legends On A Postage Stamp

Canada Post’s 2014 stamp program will demonstrate the diverse combination of achievement, progress, culture and tragedy that helps define Canada.

In a new series to be issued in July, country music stars Tommy Hunter, k.d. lang, Renée Martel, Hank Snow and Shania Twain will appear on stamps for the first time. Distinguished athletes – curler Sandra Schmirler, figure skater Barbara Ann Scott and freestyle-skiing pioneer Sarah Burke – will be featured in February in a set of stamps commemorating Canadian Women Winter Athletes.

“Collectively we continue to capture moments that will long live through our stamp collection. And we encourage everyone to take note of these stories as they truly mark who we are as Canadians,” says Deepak Chopra, President and CEO of Canada Post.

Huff Po Pans Carrie, Faith, Shania, Kelly ACM-wear

The 2013 ACM Awards were a chance for country stars -- known for their flamboyant style -- to shake a tail feather. And did they ever.
"From Shania Twain's confusing outfit to Kelly Clarkson's sheer pantyhose, we were thoroughly entertained.

"Carrie Underwood usually lands on our other list, but this week she struggled in oversized prints that overwhelmed her on the red carpet and sparkles that looked like they belonged at prom."

Check out those over-the-top looks, as well as more celebrities who made Huffington Post's worst-dressed list.

Christmas featuring Bublé, Pickler, and Twain

The NBC special, "A Michael Bublé Christmas," will air December 6.  Stories from New York suggest Kellie Pickler could be part of the show.  Pickler tweeted from New York recently and a makeup artist said she saw Pickler on stage with Bublé.

Here's a tweet we picked up.

“Back stage with Michael Bublé and Kelly Pickler! They’re singing the cutest duet together for Michael’s Christmas show!,” Belinda Moss tweeted.
The taping for the NBC special was November 4 in Brooklyn.

Bublé recently released an album of holiday standards.  The CD includes a duet of "White Christmas" with Shania Twain among the 15 songs in the project.

Expensive Pair Of Shoes For Twain

shaniatwain.com
Shania Twain's shoes raised nine-thousand-dollars auctioning off the autographed, black satin BCBG Max Azria heels she wore at the CMT Music Awards back in June -- when she slipped and fell as she was making her way to the stage.

While she admitted she was embarrassed about her tumble at the time, it was in reflecting on the incident that she came up with the idea of helping others while eliminating the offending footwear from her life.

The shoes went to the Canadian eBay website this month, and the auction closed Monday night.

The nine-grand Twain is getting for the shoes will go to Shania Kids Can, a charity the singer established to help school-aged children who are struggling with problems in their homelife.

Those Heels Almost Killed Her

The killer shoes are going, going, gone. Shania Twain's high heels that caused a painful fall during the CMT Video Awards in June are going to the highest bidder.

Shania had joked about the shoes going to auction. Now they are.

You can catch a glimpse of the shoes on eBay. All proceeds are going to the Shania Kids Can charity. The charity works through the school system to help kids in Canada.

The shoes are black satin BCBG Max Azria heels, size 6. The bidding when last checked was at $6100. You have until Monday night to bid.

Shania Maybe On American Idol

shaniatwain.com
TMZ reported it and now People magazine and CNN are backing up the report.

Shania Twain is reportedly in the running to be American Idol judge.

TMZ calls her candidacy “Plan B” in case the deal with the reported front runner, Jennifer Lopez falls through.
People quotes a source that says, “They’ve been after her ever since she was a mentor on the show last season and they haven’t given up.”

CNN quotes a source who says, “”Shania loves the show. Like everyone else, she’s dying to see who the next ‘American Idol’ judge will be.” and that Shania’s role will have to be “defined in a way that would make sense creatively for an artist of her stature.”

But only last week, Entertainment Weekly reported that it was “highly unlikely” Shania would be a judge on Idol.

Tuesday it was reported that Jennifer Lopez was out…but then later it was reported that was incorrect.

Shania Celebrating Today

Shania Twain has celebrated sales in excess of 75 million albums, but is looking ahead.

"For the very first time, I really feel like I belong here," she said at a party last week celebrating her return to Nashville (quote via CMT). "That might sound a little bit weird, but when you come from a small town in Canada, it's not like America needs any more talent. It has everything it needs. So I always felt like an outsider -- because I was.

Shania admits she did not enjoy all the success.

"At the peak of my career, I was in such a whirlwind that I was too tired to really enjoy what was happening," Shania acknowledges to the Boot. "I was meeting everybody, and it was all just whizzing by, and I didn't take it in. Now I've been welcomed with open arms like never before, and it's just a really good feeling. I love what I do, and I'm so glad I'm back doing it again."

Shania is working on a new album. She will head to Las Vegas next year to begin her 'Still the One' concert series at Caesar's Palace.

Shania and Taylor Hit The Screen

The 2011 CMT Music Awards kicked off with a bang and two women scorned in the trailer for a mock movie, ‘Taylor and Shania.’

When Taylor Swift calls for help, she calls on Shania Twain, who’s there in a flash in an old-school convertible. The pair ride off into the sunset like a country ‘Thelma and Louise,’ and find themselves out on the open road with guns and a vengeance.

Swift and Twain prove quickly that they won’t put up with anything, much less a man, and we get an unusual view at the dirty side of both female country superstars. This trailer for the duo’s mock movie was a hilarious start to the show, and featured guest stars Donald Trump, Kenny Rogers and ‘Glee‘ cast member Chord Overstreet!

At the end, the girls pick up Kid Rock on the side of the road, and true to the original outlaw film, drive themselves off a cliff before the awards even started.

New Music From Shania

Shania Twain debuted her first new song in six years yesterday. ‘Today is Your Day’ was unveiled.

The song is Twain’s first newly recorded tune since ‘Shoes,’ which appeared on the 2005 soundtrack for ‘Desperate Housewives.’

Twain is working hard on locating her voice, and this song is a benchmark moment for her, as she is letting her voice be heard despite feeling like she could no longer sing, which is something she is documenting very publicly on her new reality series ‘Why Not? With Shania Twain.’

Twain told Perez Hilton that the entire song will be released by the end of the series, which is a gripping docu-drama about the singer’s search to find her voice and to learn how to sing and perform again amid the crippling betrayal she endured at the hands of her ex-husband and her best friend.

Redbook Is Shania's Book

redbook.com
Shania Twain is Redbook magazine’s June cover girl. Inside, Shania talks her betrayal, losing her voice, and finding new love in the arms of her betrayers ex-husband.

“Being betrayed is one of the most valuable lessons life can teach. Now that you are wise to the game, you have the tools to choose your friends more carefully and protect your inner circle from these predators. Wear your scars like a badge. Someone hurt you, you lived through it, and now you can talk about it without rage and revenge in your heart.”

Shania’s new OWN series Why Not? with Shania Twain documents Shania’s journey to regain her voice that she lost amidst the heartache of her life.

“When my marriage broke down, I got so physically constricted that I couldn’t get any volume out at all. . . . I realized I couldn’t live without singing and had to do something about it. This is why I was like, ‘Just get it all out right now. Clean the pipes.’”

Shania’s series is on the OWN network and her book, From This Moment On, is on store shelves now. Shania recently announced she would be at this years CMA Music Fest for the fist time since 1996. No word yet if she’ll perform.
